The uploading of files has been simplified as much as possible. However, no ftp access is provided, you have to use the website. If you need it, it is possible to provide access to scp your files. There are complications with this method, which will not be expanded on here.
  1. Go to the the file manager, and use this to navigate to the directory where you want to place the file. Note that you can create directories as well. If you are not an administrator, then the folders that you can view are limited to your personal folder (and sub-folders) and those group folders that you are a member of.
  2. Click on the "Upload a File" link.
  3. Click on "Browse" and choose the file to upload, and then on the "Upload" button. Website integration is explained later.
  4. Note that if the file already exists on the server, it will automatically be over-written without prompting, so be careful! Neither that nor file deletion can be undone.
  5. At this point you have successfully uploaded the file. Just use the back button on your browser to return to the file manager.
  6. Remember that if you are uploading a web page, you also have to upload any images on that page. Once all of these have been uploaded, you should go to the page, and check that all the images and all the links work.

Website Integration

There is an option to integrate your uploaded file with the website. What does this mean?
If you choose "No", your page will be uploaded straight to the site. It will not be listed on the site map, and will look exactly as you designed it on your computer. If you do choose to integrate it, then several things happen:

Multiple File Uploads

It is also possible to upload several files in one go. If you are on the file upload page, click on the link at the bottom of the page relating to multiple files. This will load a java applet, which is fairly self-explanatory. One slight quirk, however, is that it does not seem to upload all the files in one go. Just continue to click 'Upload Files' until the list of files to be uploaded is empty.
