David Deutsch gave a talk at the CMS on Qubit Field Theory, a startling alternative to conventional Quantum Field Theory. Though it is still very much in an embryonic stage, it has some elegant features such as being able to accommodate the Beckenstein Bound, and eliminating pathalogical aspects of renormalisation.
