About Me

I am a Senior Research Fellow in Quantum Information, appointed by the Scottish Universities Physics Alliance, based at the Department of physics of the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow. I was a post-doc in the Quantum Information Theory group in the Department of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics (DAMTP), under Prof. Artur Ekert. My main interests are in basic issues of quantum information such as the structure of the allowed transformations and evolutions of quantum states, hence the (quantum) information they represent. I also am interested in geometrical aspects of state evolution, in particular, mixed states and density operators. I also work a bit on inherently quantum processing, computation of quantum states and operators which represent quantum data structures. This includes estimation of entanglement, purity, entropy and spectra.

Lately, I have become interested in implementational issues of QIP, particularly QC architectures in solid states systems. These include decoherence reduction for quantum dot-based QC, design and control of interactions between qubits, and characterisation of dynamics of fabricated quantum systems.

When I am not doing physics, I like to sing in choirs (I've sung at Queens', Keble, Wolfson and Sidney Sussex Colleges) and currently am in the University of Strathclyde Chamber Choir. The rest of the time, I am trying to find my photographic vision. Lately, this has included portraiture, street/candid photography and bits of travel/reportage stuff.
