About me
I was brought up in Bingen, a town situated at the ‘romantic’ part of the river Rhine in Germany. In 1997 I started my university education at ETH Zürich and KTH Stockholm, which I completed in 2002 with a diploma in theoretical physics. I then started a PhD at Cambridge University with Artur Ekert in the field of Quantum Computation. I have recently finished my studies and now work as an EPSRC Post-Doctoral Researcher. From my PhD times at Victorian Selwyn College I have now moved to the picturesque Magdalene College, where I joined the Fellowship as a Thomas Nevile Research Fellow in Natural Science.

Magdalene College Cambridge, United Kingdom
Thomas Nevile was Master of Magdalene subsequently of Trinity College at the turn of the 16th to the 17th century.
My research
Quantum information theory combines theoretical and experimental quantum physics, computer science and information theory. Through my research I wish to solidify these connections and contribute to a better understanding of the underlying physics and the mathematical structure of quantum-mechanical systems. In my PhD thesis I have investigated the structure of bipartite quantum states from both a cryptographic and a group theoretic point of view.
"The Structure of Bipartite Quantum States - Insights from Group Theory and Cryptography", PhD thesis, University of Cambridge, February 2006.
The Quest for the True Origin of Entanglement.
CUTEC and ScanSoc
Founded by a few graduate students, the Cambridge University Technology and Enterprise Club (CUTEC) was a spin-off from a Selwyn College garden party. In 2004 I chaired CUTEC’s First Annual Tech Ventures Conference in the Guildhall in London. I am also a member of the Cambridge University Scandinavian Society having just retired as their Junior Treasurer.
